Steve Kirstein House Engineer

After graduating from Metalworks Institute’s Audio Production & Engineering program in 2009, Steve went back to his roots to work at a studio in a small coastal town in South Africa, recording and mixing top artists of the Garden Route region such as Wendy Oldfield, Jeremy Crutchley and Tidal Waves. Since his return to Canada, Steve has become the house engineer at River 16 working alongside owner Rob Lackie as a killer production duo. In the summer of 2011, Steve was behind the board for a live music television show with Cogeco, showcasing 10 local bands (60 songs) over the period of two and a half days. Recently, Steve has been assisting on projects with Andrew Cole, Tom Cochrane, Alex Lifeson, Alan Frew, Jeff Goldblum, Steve Churchyard and Chris Potter. Steve enjoys working as an engineer but can also take on musicianship roles and is a budding producer.

Nick Jabbour Engineer

Nick is a graduate of the Trebas Institute’s Audio Engineering program who has been a recent addition to the studio staff. His affability and keen work ethic greatly compliments his technical prowess in the studio. Nick has been assisting on sessions, as well as recording and mixing several projects at River 16.

Garrin Carter Engineer, Producer

Garrin is a graduate of Recording Arts Canada (2002) and has been working with Rob Lackie at River Sixteen since it’s inception. Garrin is an accomplished recording and mixing engineer and his diverse interests in music and sound design make him an asset to any session. Garrin also was a key consultant in the construction of the studio.

Danny Campbell Assistant Engineer

Danny attended Metalworks Institute 2009-2010 and graduated with honours, recieving his audio engineering diploma. After graduating he began assisting on various sessions at River Sixteen. He is also a musician has has been playing drums since 2002.

Pat Simms Assistant Engineer

Pat is a freelance engineer with a background as a musician who graduated from Fanshawe’s Music Industry Arts program in 2009.  Since graduating he has taken any opportunity to work with local talent in the GTA as an engineer and producer.
